As much as we wanted to lessen our daily sugar consumption to improve our healthy lifestyle, drinking diet sodas will not guarantee much as we expect it to be.

If you are starting to drink diet sodas as an alternative instead of regular sodas for reducing calorie intake, surely, it will help you reduce your body fat. This will also lessen the health risks caused by regular sodas.

According to an American financial and business media site, Insider, diet sodas tend to imitate regular sodas tricking your brain that you are actually drinking regular sodas because of its sweetness. Although it does not serve any nutritional benefit, it will help you eliminate your sugar cravings.

However, if you will not limit the drinking diet sodas, it may not affect that greatly. So, drinking diet coke instead of the regular ones take you one step closer to your fitness goal.

Is consuming a lot of diet soda affect your health in the long run?

Since you began switching regular sodas to diet sodas, you may not be worrying about getting fatter since because it has low to no sugar content.

With the growing number of people with obesity, soda manufacturers released diet sodas as alternative instead of the regular ones which they say “a better choice” which have lesser chances of health risk.

According to Medical News Today, drinking too much diet sodas is link to various diseases such as diabetes, fatty liver, dementia, heart diseases, and stroke. The intake of this kind of product should be in moderation.

Also, some research claims that diet sodas reduce bone loss. This leads to the question, is diet sodas good for bones?

Many theories suggest that carbonated drinks, such as sodas, contributes to bone loss, fracture, and reducing bone density, according to an article published by The Globe and Mail.

The article “Will my Diet Coke gives me osteoporosis?” also tackles theories that involve theories that claim carbonated beverages have a negative impact on the body’s “calcium balance.” It suggests that sodas may either “increase calcium excretion in the urine or decrease calcium absorption from the intestine” due to the sodas’ ingredients.

In addition, teeth can also be affected by soda consumption. An article published by an American health information website, Health line, Sodas, regular or diet, have acidic compounds that affect the teeth.

In its article “What Does Soda Do to Your Teeth?” when the acid encounters the tooth enamel, which is the protective layer of the teeth, it will lessen the hardness of the teeth. The acid will also develop cavities afterward that will cause tooth decay if there is a lack of proper dental hygiene.

Moreover, according to medical website Healthline, Regular Sodas, which contains natural sugar, contributes to the growth of the plaque (bacteria) that are found on the teeth. Consequently, diet sodas may not contribute directly to the plaque, it still has acidic compounds that can also affect tooth decay.

 Is diet soda better than regular soda?

When it comes to health and fitness, consuming a lot of carbohydrates are totally no-no. Instead of improving your body, it contributes to higher health risks such as diabetes and obesity.

Evidently, diet sodas are designed to become an alternative for regular sodas which contains an amount of sugar that contributes to body fats. If you drink regular sodas on a daily basis, it is time to change your lifestyle one step at a time by switching to diet sodas.

Eventually, if you care much of your health, you may consider taking away all carbonated drinks in your life.
