Nutrition myths have become more prevalent these days and we may be committing these lies unknowingly.
Many us believed or still believing with some of the greatest fitness lies that were told to us by many fitness coaches. These nutrition myths were passed through word-of-mouth and continued to spread throughout the internet.
Whether you are a beginner or a veteran, you still have your chance of saving yourself with these nutrition and training myths. Let’s enumerate the best fitness lies you heard around your gym and on the internet.
Eating fat-rich foods counter your fitness progress
For years, we have been pointing fingers to fat-rich foods that were a cause of us getting fatter. This may be true at some point. However, a lot of diets contain foods that are rich in fat.
For beginners who do have lesser knowledge about diets, they tend to rely on their instinct on what’s good or what’s bad for them. But this is the greatest mistake you would ever commit. Not all fats are the same.
Our body is designed to absorb nutrients, and fats can help us absorb fat-rich foods. You should also know that some fats are good for your bodies such as saturated and unsaturated fats or natural fats. Trans fat is the one you should worry about since it is an artificial fat made by humans.
All foods must be taken in moderation. Eating too much is what makes you fatter.
Frozen fruits and veggies lose nutritional value
Fruits and veggies contain enzymes like trypsin and chymotrypsin. These enzymes are responsible for the loss of color, flavor, and nutrients after harvest. Consequently, freezing is one way to stop this from happening allowing preservation of its freshness.
‘No pain, no gain’
This is what your gym coach or trainer tells you always. A mantra that every man should take note about. It is true that at some point, having pain makes you gain more. But there should be a limitation to this.
Too much exercise, weight training, or so, can put so much strain on our bodies. We should give our muscles and body appropriate breaks as well as proper rest. Every muscle to our body should get used to basic training first before doing intensive workouts.
Training can give you the right to eat more
This is an absolute mistake in all kinds. Just because your doing training does not mean you are given absolute freedom to eat all kinds of foods. This is why diets are made to be followed, not to break them. Proper discipline and mindset should be the greatest weapon in your journey so that you can follow a straight path towards your goal.
Having a six-pack is always healthy
Most people believed that having six-pack abs is the way to be healthy. Not because your core is at its peak, it does not mean that you are a healthy person. A lot of factors should be considered before seeing a person healthy. Factors you need to know are training, diet, sleeping hours and such.
Don’t eat before bedtime to lose fat
It may have caused you a slight difference. But the key to losing fat while you sleep is improving your resting metabolic rate. Training and diets are some ways how you improve your resting metabolic rate. It is not necessary to not eat at all and deprive yourself. If you are not feeling well, you should eat. But there is a line to that. Know the difference.
Exercise in an empty stomach
Most people believed that training in an empty stomach will help them lose more weight. Your body tends to use body fats as an energy source for your workout. However, an empty stomach will not grant you the efficiency to perform well.
If you are under intensive training and workouts, it is better to eat 1 or 2 hours before the training begins. It can give you an optimum shape to perform exercises more efficiently.
Lifting weights makes women bulkier
Building bulkier muscles has a lot of factors you need to consider before building them. Training alone can’t give you a bulkier shape. You need to take a lot of protein to build muscles. High protein diets can give you the shape that you want. If you want bigger muscles, high consumption of protein and intensive weight training should be done.
Fasting can help in losing weight
This is true at some point but not in a healthy way. Fasting to lose weight is only reducing your necessary body fluids that resulted in weight loss. It is more difficult for you to lose body fats if your necessary body fluids are gone.
Detox regularly to eradicate unnecessary toxins
Detoxing can make more harm than good. Toxins are substances that are bad for humans which are brought by consuming foods from animals and plants that we can’t digest. This is just brought by marketers to sell their products. Our body has its detox system that flushes away unnecessary substances that can harm our body. Fiber-rich foods are only there to just help our system.
